Cloud solutions offer all manner of benefits, many of which are already commonplace for Lobster’s customers – such as ready-made, abstract infrastructures. Or the ability to visualise all server and network components end to end. Or a dynamic infrastructure software. Location and device independent access via IP networks. And short-term contracts. But the most important is the ability to offer a comprehensive service – a box which Lobster’s cloud infrastructure undoubtedly ticks. All the necessary architectural components for running Lobster_data – e.g. server, storage and database – are covered. Customers even have the option of adding more components, such as a firewall, at any time. Making the set-up that bit more customisable to individual requirements.
THE LOBSTER CLOUD – A UNIQUE OFFERING.
Clouds can generally be divided into private and public clouds. Private clouds are always associated with a particular organisation, which means they offer additional protection against unknown users – a benefit public cloud users do not enjoy. Then there are the hybrid clouds that can be used to create and manage private clouds hosted within public clouds. Lobster uses hybrid clouds to give customers access to public cloud providers such as AWS. This approach also improve IT fail-safety, as every customer receives their own private cloud, that can be managed and monitored within the public cloud. Cloud-based software solutions are generally thought of as services, and can be subdivided into different levels. It comprises cloud-based integration solutions for applications and data from environments also located in clouds or run on premise. A whole host of other benefits speak for a Lobster-run cloud instances: no dependency during maintenance work and transparent, secure data storage with unique encryption. A local ERP system such as SAP is connected using an encrypted VPN throughput to a private subnet in a virtual private cloud (VPC), which hosts Lobster_data. This essentially means that the internal system and Lobster_data communicate via a secure tunnel (1:1 connection), which offers protection against cyber attacks.
